This classic scuba diver's watch has been professionally Serviced and regulated, and is running beautifully, keeping accurate time. The dual-finish steel case has been expertly polished and rebrushed, and is in excellent condition. The watch also has 'Quickset' day and date display windows. The hands and dial markers have a luminous treatment.
Dial/Hands Seiko Dial, customised in the traditional SKX Diver style, in a crisp white, in perfect condition. An applied Snoopy design dominates the left centre of the dial - in this instance, he's cuddling his best pal Woodstock, and a couple of red love hearts are floating across the dial.... The dial is signed 'SEIKO, Automatic' to the upper right, and 'DIVERS 200M, 21 Jewels' below centre. Circular dial markers, larger ovals at 6 & 9, and a stylised 'Sword-Hilt' at 12, all with an applied luminous finish. There are 'Quickset' Day and Date windows at 3 o'clock. The Day can be configured to display in English or Spanish. Monday through Friday are printed in black, Saturday in blue, and Sunday is red. Minute markers run around the outer chapter ring, which is also new, colour matched to the dial, and set at an angle which adds an impression of extra depth to the watch head.
The hands are also new, in the classic SKX Diver style, black-trimmed with a luminous fill. There's an 'Arrowhead' minutes hand, a 'Broadsword' hour hand, plus a yellow 'Needle' seconds hand, with a lumed circle at the base of the black counterbalance. The luminous treatment on the hands and markers has been upgraded, they glow nicely after exposure to light, and while it won't shine all night, the effect lasts for a little while, a nice bonus on a refurbished or redialled watch, which often have little or no 'lume'. See the gallery photo which shows the effect after brief exposure to a bright light.
Case The large dual-finish stainless steel case is in excellent condition, with minimal signs of use - in a satin-brushed finish to the upper surfaces, and a high-polish finish to the sides and back (I've had this expertly polished and rebrushed, and it has come up beautifully. I can't see any dings or obvious scratches, even up close, tiny 'hairline' marks if anything). The case edges remain crisp and nicely defined.
Bezel Original unidirectional steel bezel, correct resistance, turns smoothly with 120 nicely ratcheted 'clicks'. It's in very good condition and has been fitted with a new ceramic bezel insert, in a distinctive yellow. It's designed in the 'Submariner' style, printed with elapsed-time markings in black.
Caseback The screwdown Caseback is in excellent condition, again expertly cleaned and gently polished, with only minimal marks. The manufacturer wording on the caseback is clear and legible, and reads as follows: "Seiko, Stainless Steel, 7S26-0020 A0, Scuba Divers, A" plus the Seiko Wave logo in the centre.
Crown Original screwdown ridged-edge steel crown, offset at the 4 o'clock position, screws down and adjusts perfectly. It's been cleaned and polished, and is in very good condition. The case tube and crown stem have been inspected, and are in good order.
Crystal New scratch-resistant Mineral Crystal, with no marks of any kind (checked under magnification).
Movement Seiko 7S26B 21 Jewel Automatic movement. My watchmaker has fully serviced the movement for me, and replaced all the gaskets. He reports it is in excellent condition, and appears original to the watch.
Strap A brand new aftermarket Seiko Z22 'Accordion' ridged rubber Diver's strap has been fitted, with a floating keeper, along with a new brushed steel buckle. I've used 'Fat' Seiko spring bars, which are a much better fit for these Diver straps, and help to ensure that the case lug holes don't get worn and loose through excessive movement. Will comfortably fit a wrist size of up to 8.5" (220mm+).
