About this strap.
The material and construction of this NATO watch strap set it apart from other NATO watch bands available. It is made from dense weave ballistic nylon which means is is exceptionally strong and durable. The strap is carefully machine stitched which not only looks great but again serves to create a watch strap that is strong and long lasting. The market is flooded with cheaper NATOs that are glued and made from inferior materials - once you have this NATO watch strap in your hand and on your wrist, you will instantly recognise the difference.
The strap is 280mm long which means it will fit largish wrists. A very common question we get is "My wrists are tiny, will this fit?" The answer is an emphatic yes, you simply fold the excess strap back into the buckle so there is no issue at all for the many who have smaller wrist sizes. See our guide to attaching and wearing a NATO watch strap here.
The fittings are made from stainless steel and come in two options. Either a brushed steel finish or a black PVD coating. This coating is very high quality and will resist chipping, flaking and cracking. The black PVD coating lends the NATO a more military feel and indeed those serving in the forces opt for this as there is no reflection of the fittings to give away position.
NATO watch straps themselves have a fascinating history. Originally developed by the British Ministry of Defence in 1973 they came in a grey colour. Servicemen would have to fill out a form called a G10 to get one so the strap also became known as a G10 strap. The Zulu reference is the style and number of fittings on this strap. The fittings are more rounded and thicker on the Zulu style as you can see from the numerous photos. Our photos show the watch on a Rolex Submariner but you can guarantee that whatever watch you have it will look equally as good.
